Nail fungus yeast infection  also known as dermatophyte, can be found everywhere. Symptoms often include yellow, thick and splitting nails. The fungus is often found in public places, which makes many people susceptible to becoming infected with it, particularly if someone is walking around without protective footwear in infected places.

Causes of nail fungus yeast infection
Nail fungus infection begins with fungus affecting one or more nails and it becomes visible through a white or yellow spot on your fingernail or toenail tip. The fungal or yeast organism that causes nail fungus is richophyton rubrum. It works by getting inside the skin through small cuts. You succumb to nail fungus if your nails are continuously exposed to warm and moist environments. As the fungus spreads, it can cause the nail color to discolor and become thick. In the advanced stage, the affected nail or nails can crumble and this can be very painful. Men are more prone to fungus infection than women and they are affected in the later stage of their life, usually after 40.

Nail fungus yeast infection can be picked up in a public place or by coming in contact with another infected individual. Avoid prolonged moisture to feet and hands and watch fro tiny cuts near or underneath the toenails and fingernails as this provides an entry point for fungi. Never walk barefoot in public places and don't share shoes or socks

How can I treat Nail fungus yeast infection
True fungus can be treated with oral medications such as Griseofulvin, Sporanox, and Lamisil. Yeast and bacterial infections of the nail are treated with Diflucan and Nizoral. Patients with yeast infections are often asked to apply a mixture of alcohol and thymol twice a day while the infected area grows out.

Other over-the-counter medications and creams may be used in conjunction with prescribed medications. Patients should be aware of the side affects associated with some medications and creams and should speak with their healthcare provider if they have any concerns regarding these side effects or if they experience any side effects during use.

Medications and creams may take months or even years to be totally effective, but the patient should follow product directions and make regular doctor's visits to have their infected area monitored.

Anti-Fungal Creams/Sprays
There are tons of over the counter anti-fungal creams that work to help kill the fungal yeast invading your body. You can find creams for Vaginitis, Athlete's Foot, Acne, Eczema and Thrush. These products come in sprays as well as creams, in case you aren't thrilled with the residue that the creams leave behind.
