This oil extract from a medicinal tree called Melaleuca alternifolia, has antifungal, antibacterial and antiviral properties that relieves nail fungal infection. The oil can be applied directly on the affected area or can be mixed with water if you want to soak the affected area. This is only used as an external application because tea tree oil is toxic when swallowed.

Listerine mouthwash is another home remedy for toenail fungus that some people find effective. Although this product is a remedy for bad breath or gingivitis, some people claims that the antiseptic property of the product can kill nail fungus when applied on the affected area. Although it is not classified as fungal infection treatment, it is considered an alternative or home remedy for toenail fungus due to its effectiveness to some people.

One of the most common home remedies for fingernail fungus removal involves the soaking of the infected nail in a solution of water and bleaching powder.

You have to do this for about 30 minutes a day, which can be divided into 15 minutes in the morning and another 15 minutes before going to bed at night. As an alternative, you can also use diluted vinegar or hydrogen peroxide instead of bleaching powder.

Although this is a very simple process, you have to note that you will be doing this every single day for the next two or three months, depending on the severity of your infection. This is probably one of the best home remedies for fingernail fungus removal.
