Ingrown toenail surgery

Ingrown toenail remedies can vary from soaking to surgery. If you have a mild case you can try soaking of the toe that's affected in a mixture of warm water and Epsom salts for about 15 days, 2 or 3 times a day and cut the nail straight across then gently rub the skin from the toenail. You can put little puffs of clean cotton under the edge of the nail and let the nail grow out from the skin.

One of the best ingrown toenail remedies is prevention. To prevent this condition you basically just do the opposite on the causes. Wear shoes and socks that fit right, not too loose and not to tight. Take proper care of your feet. Don't cut your toenails to short or let them grow to long. You want to cut the nail so that it's just at the end of the toe.

What cause ingrown toenail?
The most common cause of ingrown fingernail or precisely ingrown toenail is the use of inappropriate footwear or shoes that do not have enough room for the toes.

Another reason that can cause this condition, but which is less common is wearing a damp shoe. Therefore, special precautions have to be observed to keep your feet clean and dry at all times. You should also be cautious while cutting your nails as cutting nails shorter than the flesh around can cause a lot of pain and discomfort. Usually, the nails grow outward away from the skin. But in a situation of in-growth of nails, the nails grow inward towards the skin and the sharp edges break into the skin causing damage to the skin tissues. Not cutting the nails properly and at regular intervals causes them to grow inward into the soft tissues of the surrounding skin.

What are the symptoms of an ingrown toenail?
The common symptoms of an ingrown fingernail could be redness, swelling and formation of purulent or watery blisters that may even discharge small amounts of blood. Depending on the extent of infection, treatment may involve some home remedies or may even require a surgery. In some cases, the partial removal of the nails may also be needed. A simple way to ease the pain of an ingrown toenail is to massage the infected nail with warm olive oil. Olive oil not only reduces pain but also helps to strengthen brittle nails causing less breakage and thereby promoting the growth of the nails properly. The use of coconut oil and tea tree oil is useful in case of infection as these natural oils act as disinfectants.

Other Ingrown toenail remedies

the following remedies may work well for ingrown toenails

1. Salt Water - Simply give your feet a salt water soak. This works extremely well, and kills bacteria.

2. Lemon - Use lemon juice or lemon to lower the chance of your ingrown toenail becoming infected.

3. Hydrogen Peroxide - You've probably used it on a small cut before. This is a great way to kill bacteria and prevent infection.

4. Tea Tree Oil - Another great way to clean the area and prevent infection.

5. Soap and Water - To make things simple, you can always clean the area with soap and water. I recommend using anything but bar soap, as bar soap can harvest bacteria.

6. Cotton Wool - Placing a small amount of cotton wool under the toenail can actually cause it to begin to grow outwards again. This is one of my favorite methods.

7. Tight Shoes - Finally, ingrown toenails can be caused by wearing tight shoes. Always make sure that your shoes wear properly, to avoid future problems.

Treating nail fungus with vicks

Treating nail fungus with vicks may be a sure fire way to avoid a case of "cold" feet but could this strange sounding home remedy really be effective at treating the stubborn bacteria that causes nail fungus? Treating nail fungus with vicks how does it work? This is a question that may not be answered adequately by most users of the vicks vapo rub. These are of course those who have used the treatment for many years and seen it work. It works through the active ingredient called Thymol. This is a molecule that affects the cell membrane of the bacteria or fungi and make it difficult for them to develop the roots that are required for them to develop a colony. Vicks vapo rub is one of the most popular home remedies. You need not go to a physician or pharmacists to get information on the use of this home solution. Just read a little more about it from the internet and also from the posting of the information sheet in the package. Causes And Preventive Measure For Toenail F...
